Frank Turton
1952 – 2019
Frank was a much loved and is greatly missed as a player in the Kirkburton Pool League for over 30 years, much of that time playing for the Carlton WMC in Kirkburton.
Will Lockwood
– 2021
Whilst Will hadn’t played pool in the Kirkburton Pool League for several years, he used to play for for the Oddfellows, (now Flying Ferret). Latterly playing regular snooker for the Ashfield, Will is greatly missed by his past and present team mates and the many people who knew him through pool and snooker activities.
Roy Addy
2nd May 1931 – 20th Oct 2021
Prior to covid, Roy was still playing competitive pool at the age of 88 after several decades playing in the Kirkburton Pool League for various teams, latterly with the Flying Ferret close to his home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, a gentleman to the end.
Charli Wadsworth
9th December 1961 – 8th April 2023
Charli was well known and highly respected around the league having played for several teams over many years and until fairly shortly before her passing, serving on the Kirkburton Pool League Committee. She is massively missed by all of her friends, team mates and Committee Members alike.
Malcolm Batty
1951 – 2024
Malcolm played in the Kirkburton League from it’s start in 1978. He initially played for what was the Prospect Inn in Denby Dale, and then joined the Denby Dale WMC team around 1984. After that he played at Emley Moor for the last 20 years or so up until very recently. Malcolm will be greatly missed by his family, his team mates and all who knew him.
John Weatherby
1940 – 2024
I’m sorry to report the sad passing of John Weatherby, aged 84. He was a long time player, secretary and chairman of the Kirkburton Pool League.
Richard (Houghy) Hough
– 2026
I’m sorry to report the sad passing of Richard Hough, (Flockton Green B). He was a regular player in our league and will be sadly missed by his team mates as well as many others who knew him.
