AGM/Presentation...
So that we can get our AGM/Presentation in before the start of the next season we have set a date of Sunday 2nd Feb from 4pm at Shelley SSC.
Registration/Fixtures...
We have had 33 teams register for next season which means we retain 3 sections of 12 each being 11 teams and a bye. Unfortunately due to weather constraints we weren't able to have the AGM/Presentation so we are looking for a suitable date prior to the new season starting. Fixtures for section 1 are on the link below. For sections 2 and 3 we await the result of a relegation playoff between Carlton Rising and Flockton WMC B. As soon as this has taken place we will publish via the Captains WhatsApp group and Facebook.
John Weatherby...
I'm sorry to report the sad passing of John Weatherby, aged 84. He was a long time player, secretary and chairman of the Kirkburton Pool League. On behalf of the Committee and those players who knew and perhaps at some time or other played with John, our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Steve and his family.
New League Chairman...
At the committee meeting, after the Captains' meeting, Andrew Chappell was confirmed as our new Chairman taking over from Kevin Nicholson. Whilst Kevin steps down with immediate effect, he will remain on the committee until the end of the season to ease Andy into his new role. Kevin has undertaken the, at times, challenging role of Chairman, for quite a few years. So I hope you will all join me in thanking him for all of his efforts to ensure that the league thrives and continues to provide everyone with the opportunity to play pool on a Monday evening in a competitive, but friendly environment.

New Rules Agreed at AGM...
During the AGM two new rules were proposed and agreed by majority vote of those present. The first was proposed by Emma Taylor and refers to eligibility to play in knockout competitions. The second is an attempt to speed up play in doubles matches.
Eligibility For Knockouts - All players taking part in a knockout competition in the second half of the season must have played 3 matches in the first half of the season, or they will be excluded. (i.e. matches not frames)
Doubles Match Play - Doubles partners may discuss for as long as they like prior to the first shot being taken, thereafter no discussion is allowed before a change of turn to their opponents. Failure to observe this rule will result in the referee giving a warning on the first occasion and calling a foul and two shots to their opponents on a subsequent occasion. It was agree that this rule would be reviewed at the Registration meeting prior to the following season. This rule, as any other, is compulsory and the committee will take action should it discover that any teams are flouting it.
Please note we are playing alternative break this season, i.e. the home team breaks for games 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, and the away team breaks for games 2, 4, 6 and 8.
Captains please note that if you wish to rearrange a league match you must do so with the agreement of the other team/Captain and with a Committee member. Also the Committee would like to point out that the rearranged match should be played before the fixture it is replacing if at all possible and certainly before the next league match.
Please note the rules for the break & dish competition. From this season forwards the competition will be for those players who achieve a break-off & clearance only.
Can I please remind everyone that players must be registered prior to playing. This can easily be done via the website form or on the back of the score card with the agreement and signature of the opposing captain. Please ensure you send copies of both sides of the score card in.
Scorecards can be downloaded and printed from the link on this page.
